WEEK 7 : CHALLENGES TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Assalamualaikum wbt everyone,
As usual ,today i am super excited to share an overview of my class for this subject. Well,as of today the topic chosen was 'challenges to sustainable development'. As accustomed, we started our class by reciting prayers to Allah. For the first session of our class, Dr Suhaimi discussed the challenges faced in implementing sustainable development projects, focusing on the social, economic, and environmental aspects. In addition, do you know that from an economic standpoint, the cost and expenses are major considerations? Environmentally, climate change and monsoon seasons pose challenges, leading to issues such as flooding and landslides.
Then,we proceed to do a sharing session about the challenges we face while carrying out our sustainable development project. I cannot stop thinking about one group expressing their challenges when trying to rescue and care for cats in need. While many people express concern and a desire to help, they often cannot bring cats to the vet due to the required cost and time commitment. So they thought about a suggestion of starting a Vet Clinic as a long-term solution, but note that it comes with its own expenses and limitations. Another issue raised is the condition of current animal shelters and the need for more space and proper care. How sad is that!
Right after the representatives of each group shared their points, our lecturer continued to discuss the topic. Another unpleasant fact that was shared during the session was regarding the challenges of discrimination based on wealth and the need for a sustainable and inclusive society. Well, obviously wealthy class has better access to resources, including education and food, and a desire to isolate themselves from the commoners which is reminds me about a hadith where the prophet said: 'Poverty is better than wealth, save those who relieve others' debts [with their own wealth] and give during tragedies. The challenges also include the aging civil society, employing people with disabilities, and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity for family and marriage, regardless of affordability. The speaker emphasizes the importance of addressing these issues for the overall welfare of society, including indigenous people who are often left out and living in poverty despite being the original landowners. Now that's fair! Furthermore, Dr Suhaimi continued with the lecture and reminded us to update our reflective journal during the midsem break.
That's all for today's session,I hope you enjoyed my blog! 😊

Thank you for a great note
